POSTURES

The Sun-Jeevan Yoga Postures are divided into two groups :
Group A : Movements of Spine
Group B : Movements of Limbs

Group A : Movements of Spine and Torso

1] Front-Spreading - Leads to back bending postures like,
1. Viparit Dandasan, on bolster-pillow or chair
2. Urdhvadhanurasan, in chair
3. Setubandhasarvangasan
4. Kapotasan
5. Suptavirasan
6. Suptabaddhakonasan

2] Back-Spreading - Leads to forward bending postures like,
1. Janushirshasan
2. Shashankasan
3. Adhomukhshwanasan
4. Suptagomukhasan

3] Side Bends -
1. Ekapad Upavishtakonasan
2. Parivrutta Janushirshasan

4] Inversion -
1. Sarvangasan, in chair
2. Rope Shirshasan

Group B : Movements of limbs

1] Flexion - extension -
1. Unilateral - e.g. Janushirshasana, Parshwakonasana
2. Bilateral - e.g. Pashchimottanasana, Uttanasana,Bhekasana.

2]Abductiuon - Adduction -
1. Alternating / Asymmetrical - e.g. Trikonasana, Parivrtta trikonasana.
2. Symmetrical - e.g. Prasaritapadasana, Upavishtakonasana.
